"It’s better to be a victim than a slag. Once you are a victim who has been groomed you no longer have to take any responsibility for anything that you did"
The controversial comments were made by Michael Magarian QC during the trial of five men and a youth who were convicted of multiple child sex offences including rape, according to the Times.
The girls, aged between 13 and 16-years-old were attacked at a series of under-18 parties organised by Ahmed Hassan-Sule, were the court heard the parties were described as "a place where girls would go and boys would choose their targets."
But during the trial at Oxford Crown Court, Mr Magarian suggested they may have been "brainwashed by social workers."
He said: "It’s better to be a victim than a s***. Once you are a victim who has been groomed you no longer have to take any responsibility for anything that you did."
In his closing speech, he described the trial as a "witch-hunt" and a "police-manufactured case."
Do you think it's possible that he is a Muslim? He appears to be trying to deflect some of the blame for the grooming onto the children - those who were groomed. Of course, in a Sharia court, the men would all be innocent and the girls would be beaten, have acid thrown in their faces and spend the rest of their lives in jail.
During remarks to the jury Clare Dowse, also defending, said the children "might be enjoying all the attention from police and social services."

He said: "They show a total lack of understanding of how children are groomed. Any suggestion that they mat be to blame for the horrendous things that happened are totally wrong."
Hassan-Hule, 21, was yesterday found guilty of 13 counts of sexual activity with a child and a single count of assault by penetration.
He will be sentenced on April 17 alongside Mohamed Saleh, 22, who was convicted of two counts of sexual activity with a child and Said Saleh, 20, who was found guilty of the same offence.
