Illinois School Bus Monitor Charged with Child Sex Offences

COLLINSVILLE, Illinois. (KSDK) – A 76-year-old school bus monitor faces charges of sex abuse and exploitation of a child, according to Collinsville police.

Madison County State's Attorney charged Thomas Hartsoe, of Fairmont City, with felonious aggravated criminal sex abuse and sexual exploitation of a child Friday.

According to police, Collinsville School District Unit 10 reported a complaint of inappropriate contact between Hartsoe, who is employed by First Student, and a student. After an investigation, with cooperation from the bus company and school district, police identified Hartsoe as a suspect.

Hartsoe is being held in Collinsville Police Department with bond set at $200,000.

No further information about the specific incident was immediately available.
Collinsville is a city of about 26,000 across the Illinois state line and 12 miles from St Louis, Missouri.
