Often I am not very forgiving when it comes to sexual abuse of children, and, indeed, I am not actually forgiving Ian Watkins or the two mothers who sacrificed their children to a monster. Nevertheless, I think it appropriate to pray for all three of these horrible people and especially to pray for their victims.
Watkins, (see post immediately below) is on a suicide watch as he has come to himself and realized just how evil he is. How did he get that way? He started on drugs at 30, and, it would appear, gave himself over completely to them.
Drugs are a gateway for evil to enter in to your life in a very real sense. There comes a point where God will let evil have its way with you if you don't resist it. I believe Watkins was so demonically possessed that he had no control whatsoever.
With the damage done and Watkins in jail, much of the evil abandoned him for more active hosts and he "came to himself" as the prodigal son came to himself in the pig-sty. The father, a type of God, forgave the prodigal his sins and welcomed him home. We should pray for Watkins to turn toward home where forgiveness awaits, as repugnant as that may seem.
I expect the story is similar for the two mothers who gave their children over to Watkins to abuse. I wonder what their story really is? What would make them so unfeeling for their own children to allow them to be sexually abused? Was it the drugs? Were they sexually abused as children themselves? Were they so narcissistic that they didn't have any real feelings for their own children?
Whatever the reason, they need prayer also.
Mostly the victims need much prayer for healing. Please pray that all of Watkins victims would come forward and deal with their abuse. Burying it is not the way to deal with it; it will eat you alive. Pray for each child to get the physical, emotional, and spiritual help they need to mitigate the horrible effects of sexual abuse.
